Bubble Time

Summer in the Harris household continues to be one of keeping warm, keeping sane, and having fun. I’ve had to reach far into the “what did I do as a kid?” bag of tricks and ask my mom for projects and recipes. A couple of weeks ago I was reminded of the bubble fun we used to have with our homemade recipe. This is the best recipe. Seriously save your money and make this one.

The best bubble recipe around:

1 gallon of water
2/3 Dawn or Joy dish soap
1 tablespoon of glycerin

**for best results let age for 5 days **

At our house we also used string to make our bubbles. Take about 3-4 feet of string and tie in a knot so it makes a loop. Dip it into the mixture and slowly open so the bubble film is in the middle. You can make huge bubble by pulling the sting over your head and gently flicking your wrist. It's all in the wrist, people. Or if you are a purist you can simply blow bubbles using the string.

The word on the street is that Thuy’s M loves bubbles! So much so that his proud papa purchased him a bubble machine similar to the one below. Usually used for raves and dances, this machine doesn't mess around.

Only the best for Thuy’s little one. Perhaps it was for his 2nd birthday, which is today! Break out the glow sticks, lil' man!

Happy 2nd Birthday, M! Your friends Emi, Giancarlo, & Lucia hope you have a great day and want to know when your parents leave so we can throw a bubble party at your pad!

That bubble recipe is awesome. I haven't done that in a long time but it is good fun! And the bonus side is that the kids are really soapy when they are finished so they're super-clean when you get them out of the tub later :)

Happy Birthday M!!!

And I need to buy some glycerin because we got some big bubble sticks with strings on the end. Thanks for the recipe!

We still love bubbles and my eldest is 8. :)

We like to make salt dough ornaments... what to decorate? I don't know and it doesn't matter. No holiday... then just find a tree and make things for the fairies. Just making the dough and making shapes by hand or cookie cutter one day... paint them another 1-2 days. Decorate your target another day.

I loved making bubbles as a kid. I'm a sour mom because it annoys my when my son does them, because the soap always stays on the car.

I love the picture, did you take that photo?
