If you asked my sister Mindy about my personality she would most likely say that I’m your typical first born: bossy, organized (ha!), know-it-all, and a planner. However, compared with my first born friends, Francesca and Keri, I am NOT what you might call a “planner.” They, on the other hand, both take the cake, literally, especially in Keri’s case.
This is the reason and my main motivation for starting my craft projects early. Yes, Halloween is several months away, but I’ve already found Emi’s costume, thanks to my new favorite crafting website. Just to make sure you love it as much as I do, here’s a sneak peek at what I’m working on this year to fulfill my new year’s resolution.
Not only is this cute and very appropriate for Emi (I probably won't have to use much stuffing!), but also after Halloween is over, the cookies can double as chair cushions. Hello? Can you say genius!
Emi’s birthday also happens to fall in October. This year, I would love to make her one of these photo banners.
I’m hopeful that this craft will be doable considering the fact that I will only have to make her two of the pennants for her second birthday! Baby steps, people.
Finally, after Halloween, it seems like Christmas always sneaks up on me. If I were Francesca, I’d be done with Christmas shopping in May, but sadly this is not the case. I figure that my summer might be well spent making some of these super cute felt onesies and t-shirts. Please do act surprised if you, in fact, get this for Christmas! To be honest, I will be surprised if you get this for Christmas 2009 too.
As promised here is my NEW favorite resource/inspiration craft site:
The site name does lack some originality, but do not let that sway you from checking out their fabulous ideas. Thankfully, most of the patterns look easy for those like me who tend to be a bit challenged in the craft department.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Random question: Can anyone tell me the history behind pinching people who don't wear green? A student of mine asked and I do not have the slightest idea. Bad teacher!

Oh my... What a slacker I am... You're way on top of things... I don't even have my next meal planned out... :RUNNING AROUND LIKE A CRAZEE PERSON, trying to catch up...:
I love the costume, too stinkin' cute!
Oh my gosh, what CUTE projects! Love the Halloween costume that doubles as chair cushions. Genius, indeed!
Adorable crafts!! Love the cookies! I have no idea where the pinching thing came form, but I have this nagging feeling that I DID know, once.
I'm so impressed!!!
Wow! When your Halloween costume can convert into chair cushions after the big event, and both the cushions and the costumes are cute as all get out that officially elevates you to craft goddess status.
You can no longer claim you are not crafty. You see *I* am not crafty and you are making me look really bad over here!! If you claim un-crafty status I'll have to send my angry wood-elves to do my bidding. I'll expect a blog update within the hour :)
Seriously. WELL DONE!
I'm wondering if I should kick my brother out of his spot as first because it sounds like I should be taking the cake. Instead I am busy being ignored because I'm the middle child.
I'm going to check out that site because I love your ideas, and I know it's a shame, but I've been planning Christmas 09 for a while now. I love that banner idea though, I may have to check that out for a 1st birthday that's coming up!
As for pinching, I found a few things but really, they sound totally lame. This is what I found. http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Why_pinch_on_Saint_Patrick%27s_Day I was hoping for something interesting when you asked, not this sad excuse of an answer.
Wait... you're already thinking of Halloween?!? I haven't even thought Easter or 4th of July through yet. I'm an oldest child... sigh. It seems I'm failing in my duties :)
Great projects. Way to plan ahead!
As for the pinching, my theory is that is was a practice created by bullies to be able to torment other kids without getting in trouble for one day a year.
How cute!! I myself am ANYTHING sewing illiterate. I can't do any of it.
i LOVE that photo banner!!!!!!
i am going to try it!!!!
Maybe for the photo banner, instead of using a photo for each year (since you'd only have 2), you could use a photo for 1 month old, 2 months old, etc. etc. Just a thought!
Love the cookie costume by the way!
That is too cute, although Halloween planning is not on my radar yet. I love these ideas!
That costume really is genius! And cute to boot. No clue on the pinching tradition though!
What an adorable costume and love the use for cushions on the little chairs....too cute!!!
I love the costume! It's adorable.
I love chocolate chip cookies. You seem to be on a role here with all this creativity. That is great!
Those are cute. I would do it, except I can't sew, so I'll just enjoy your pics!
I just started sewing patches on clothes after years of not even attempting to sew on a button.
Baby steps, baby steps for me.
Tell Francesca I came by K?
I love the costume being turned into chair cushions. How clever is that? You crafty women rock!!!
Wow what great ideas.
You are completely inspiring!
Hello! You're already talking Halloween...I'm way behind! I'm focusing on ONE holiday at a time...I just purchased some easter grass, a basket, some plastic eggs and a few goodies today at Target. I thought I was doing good, seeing that Easter is still a few weeks away. Man, I gotta pick up the speed! Cute cookie that doubles as a costume and cushions...who would have thought?
Oh, and I am LOVING that banner!
That banner is a great idea! Then every year you just add one tab! Awesome, I may do this, maybe... if I can manage!
THat costume and chair cushions! WOW, what a cute idea!

Love the costume!! too cute :)
That is the cutest costume ever! I love that site.
Such great ideas! Thanks for sharing them.
I love all the cute stuff. Genius.
To answer your question about pinching.
You pinch people who don't wear green because they are non conformists and they need to be punished. This tradition started with Hitler. How do you think he got Germany under his thumb? Are you a teacher? You should know this stuff, anyway when everyone realized what a sick man Hitler was the tradition stopped. Some Nazi's (sp?) escaped to Ireland and just couldn't let it go literally.
Cuh-ute costume!!! Lovin the photo banner too! I am on my way over there!
I LOVE the cookie costume! How clever!
What CUTE projects! I'm scheming for Halloween already, too - luckily Princess Nagger has decided she wants to go as the Tooth Fairy, so it shouldn't be too hard to pull off... ;)
LOVE those cookies! So ingenious! :) I'll definitely check that site out. :)
OMG Yup I'm feeling like a little spick of dust beneath super mom here! Yup you and sis rock! I so need to try to make that banner, way cute!
Lovin' that the cookie costume can be seat cushions!! TOO CUTE!
I am impressed with your motivation to get a jumpstart...especially with your crafty ideas!
love the cookie idea - so wish we lived closer, so we could have sewing days!!
xo
Love that banner! I hope I can do that:)
I used to be organized, up until my first child was born 8 years ago! I'm getting back though. I actually sent out Christmas cards this past Christmas... they might have even been mailed on time, I don't know... I was just impressed that we got them done.
You are so talented and very organized. I guess I suffer from middle child syndrome!
Is she a cookie or a turtle?...
I love that costume/cushion idea. Man, talk about making me feel like a SLACKER!!!
I love the cookie chairs. I want them for my kitchen. :)
I love this new site!!!!!! Thanks!!
i love the cookies on the chairs and as a costume!!!!
wow...awesome!!!!!!
and if i am getting a shirt for christmas......a onesie will not fit me......i need bigger than that!!!!!
and you are soooo ahead of me!!!! i have not even thought about any of those holidays!!!!! so you are doing awesome!!!!!
The cookie costume is my favorite! heheh.
Cute, cute, cute! I am the oldest too, and quite the planner, but I have to say, I think you have me beat this year! I usually don't start my Halloween costume planning until about July or August. Guess I better get on it!
Cute projects, thanks for the link to the site!
