It Would Have Been Nice to Know

Last Christmas, Emi slept through most of the holiday season. As a two month old, she seemed quite bored.

This Christmas, a year older, I was very excited, hoping Emi would relish the festivities and get in the spirit of the holidays.

We started with Emi's first Christmas tree outing. It was crowded and FREEZING, just the way you imagine it to be. And yet, she didn't seem to appreciate the experience as much as we had hoped. She can be so ungrateful at times.

This year, Tyler and I debated over what to get her. After much thought, we settled on a little Bumble Bee Scooter. Little did we know that Grandpa & Grandma had also purchased the same scooter.

She did seem to enjoy her mound of presents...just not as much as the two following items.

Yes, those are Mardi Gras beads. Yes, one of them says Cuervo. Yes, Emi is teething (nice drool, puddle!). And no, Emi did not "earn" the beads.

Her second favorite thing...Kleenex.

I found her "playing" with the Kleenex box. She takes one piece at a time and apparently has made up a game called, "let's see how many tiny pieces I can make before Mom catches me." Fun times. Had I known this is what would occupy my daughter's time I would have splurged and purchased her the ultra soft box (only the very best for her!).

My daughter LOVES to do the same thing with toilet paper! I had to change where I store it because when I started making sure the bathroom doors were shut she found a new stash!

Ha!! Ah, yes, the Kleenex game! We know it well. The only the game that might be slightly worse is the Packing Peanuts game, which Avery also discovered this year. Did you know it's virtually impossible to vacuum up packing peanuts?

(On a side note I have pics I will send you asap. Avery looks at the one of her & Emi and says "Emi"!)

Everyone who has had kids for long knows that the best thing under the Christmas tree are the cardboard boxes! Oh yah!

Isn't it funny how the simplest things can intrigue them more than fancy gifts. My little sister is wise in this department. She has stated many times over, why spoil them with mounds of gifts that they will probably only play with a time or two, but give them a box, and they'll spend all kinds of time finding all types of things to do with it. Kids, what would we do without them?! Gotta Love em!

Haha!!! Well, at least she likes somethings...even if they are beads that say "Cuervo"

She's got good taste :o)

so funny - she reminds me of my puppy who leaves little pieces of paper every where he goes. What is it about puppies and children that they like the simple (and messy) things in life? :)

You are funny and Emi is so cute I want to eat her up with a spoon. Tell your hubby to watch out, cause if he sees some wild eyed woman following him around in a store, (if I ever get back to Cali!) with a spoon, to grab the kid and RUN!
