My own children also have a lovey. He is a character from Disney's Winnie the Pooh adventures, and, if I must admit, a fun guy. In our house, he goes by the name Heffy and comes in the form of a big, squishy, purple elephant.
Heffy was a newborn gift to Giancarlo, but since Lucia turned about one, "Hef" has taken on an entirely new identity and importance. He is everywhere I go, and when I can't find him, I am instructed to go looking.
Lucky for me, Heffy has a few consistent hang-outs...
I'll find him in my bed or Giancarlo's.

You know, I actually don't remember having a Heffy. Apparently, I have blocked my childhood out. Can't be a good sign.
TOO CUTE!
I just had a lowly blankie that I once mistakenly sewed to myself...
My oldest, Mae has "Cookie" her baby she got when she was just a newborn ...now she's 12...Cookie still goes with us.
Hannah Grace has "Fuzzy" her soft baby blanket... She loves that blankie
Thanks for showing. I love Heffy, and I'm sure if he could talk he'd have much to share about his adventures with your family!
We have the same thing going on over here. H has her Build A Bear Bunny Sissy and O has her Build A Bear Bear Zoe. They are with them at all times--except at school.
BTW--love your baby picture!! So cute!!
Very cute! We have a Winnie The Pooh "lovey" that we call poobie.
I don't think I ever had a lovey. My son had a little puppy that he loved and had to take everywhere, but he has since grown out of that. So cute of your kids!
I had imaginary cats. They went everyhere with me.
Awww! That is so cute! I love it when kids get attached to objects. Unless they get lost. Then I hate them.
Loved Heffy with the pacifier! He looks like one of the soft stuffed animals...Excellent to snuggle with!
My blankie and my thumb were my "vices" when I was little and my girls switch it up on me all the time. One day it is their doll another day it is their webkin. I think they like to keep me on my toes.
PS. Whenever I start reading your blog, I immediately know when you write the post (without even looking). I think our relationship is getting very serious. :)
My mind is always in the gutter... why can't I enjoy the lovey name Heffy without thinking of the Hef? My apologies to you and G.
Anyhoo... love the post, love Heffy, going now to wash my brains out with soap.
At first I thought you named him Heffy after Hugh...but then I figured maybe it was a heffalump thing? I hope so.:)
He's cute, I have a smaller version of him!
I love him! We have a couple of "Heffys" at our house too! I think it's so much fun!
My kids never got attached to stuffed animals...:( What a cute post and great pictures. the last one cracks me up.
That last picture had me cracking up! We have a couple of very special stuffed friends at our house, too. My 8 year old son was a little disappointed in me when I referred to Doug the Dog as not real yesterday. Oops!
It's been so long since I've seen a post from you! Or maybe it just seems that way...I was going through Francesca withdrawl.
We have lots of things that Princess gets attached to. Right now it's stuffed puppies with names like Taste, Mauser, and Bella. We counted last night and between Princess and Dexy, we have 15 stuffed dogs or puppies.
Still easier than the real thing.
My girls have a few different lovies and I think it's so cute. I like that last picture...it looks just slightly inappropriate. ;o)
Aww, the wuvvie! I had a bear, a lot like the one Radar had in MASH, and a puppy blanket that was made for my baby sister but confiscated by me.
I loved this post! That elephant is adorable!! I love the picture of Heffy with Giancarlo at the table...too cute!
We don't have a "Heffy" in our house...just blankies. And even those are only for bedtime. I swear my childhood was messed up, I don't remember if I had a special security thing or not! LOL Oh well, I hope my children remember their favorite items someday.
Thanks for all your lovely comments on my blog! "auntie internet Fran" cracked me up! Wish you weren't thousands of miles away, we would totally be best buds!
I SOOOOOO know what you mean! Reagan has a pink puppy that she is NEVER without. I even have two spares in case something tragic should ever happen to the original or the first back up. That is how much of a necessity this particular lovey is. My husband and I laugh that she is going to have to stuff the dang thing into her garter under her wedding dress on the day she gets married!
I love this. We take Baby Ashley with us when we go places. Too funny. Love the last shot.
That is SO cute!! They'll have such happy memories of Heffy when they're older!
Cole has a teddy bear that he received from the hospital staff where he had his hernia surgery. He carries it everywhere and treats it like a real baby. In fact, today he wanted to take it to school with him but the teacher asked that he stop doing that (b/c you know, then all the kids want to start bringing theirs from home too...ugh) and he had to leave his bear at home and the child was devastated. Completely devastated.
I have to take the little twins to Target this morning to get some things and I assured Cole that we'd bring Teddy with us and make sure he was well taken care of. I was informed that Teddy will only drink cold apple juice and I need to ask him every hour if he's hungry.
Man, I wish I was that teddy bear...I'd be so well taken care of!!
We were poor, or so we were led to believe, I had nothing. Hubby still has his Boo Bunny or something in a box in the garage. TOF has a Thumper, a Cubs taggie blanket we affectionately call "your rag" and Grisgrum, his puppy. Hey whatever it takes to get 2.5 hours to myself after lunch. We have Heffy, but they never bonded.
Your baby pic is adorable! As is Heffy : )
Max has Moby the Monkey, and he is lost if he isn't able to bite his face at least once a day. This has resulted in quite a few washings! Good thing I bought a back-up, huh?!
Thanks for the comment on our blog : )
You know that we also have our own version of Heffy (Pooh) and I wake up in a cold sweat some nights after having a dream that he is lost. That will be a dark, dark day.
~Keri
Heffalumps and WOOSALS!
Is it sad I saw the movie with Heffy's character in it? In college? With Ben? For V-day?
I'm such a five year old.
I had Littlefoot, from Land Before Time. He went EVERYWHERE with me and I slept with him every night. You would never think I would like dinosaurs, but I did.
And PLEASE send me a copy of your marketing genuis letter. Lord knows I need help, even though I've got a PR degree and shouldn't...
At least it's not a coconut :)
We have a small pink elephant named Pink E. Alyse loves him. However, she is mostly attached to her Taggie. One time she took it to church with her, but it didn't make it home. I am not sure who cried more - me or her! I had to go online and order one with rushed delivery!
Does Heffy want to come meet Oggie and Baby? They have MANY Similiar pics!
Last week, Elijah set up a "studio" in his room to take "professional" shots of Oggie.
and right now?
Ogs is buckled into the backseat of my car, so he stays safe while Elijah is at school. Ahh, the stories us mommies could tell of frantically searching the world for those guys when they go missing.
P.S. Could Giancarlo BE any cuter!?
How cute! I never had a "lovey" and neither have my kids. My husband on the other hand? His "lovey" was his mom's hair. They had to buy him a doll with long hair to comfort him when his mom wasn't around.
I never really had a lovey, and my daughter only had a thing for her pacifiers (which have been MIA for about a month now! Hooray!). My son is showing no signs of a lovey either. Are we all weird?
going with "hilarious" heffy. so cute! my girlies for some reason, all have blankets...sofie just chooses her fingers, so she's got them, but the others, all have blankies!
Francesca, you KNOW what I'm thinking right now looking at that last picture!
Huffy is adorable, I love him sitting up at the table. We have many blankets, and animals which we drag around everywhere with us.
In this house it's Winnie the Pooh. Pooh has been with us for 14 years and he's all ragedy but we can't get rid of him. It's amzaing how all 3 of my kids loved that same bear. I'm not allowed to wash it cause it might fall apart. Pooh is our forever baby.
I still have the Pooh Bear I got when I was 3. He's tattered, but he's been everywhere--in the hospital, on vacations, in cribs. Everywhere.
My 3 all have night-nights--flannel blankets that I swaddled them in. If we lost those, I don't know what we'd do!
Isn't it amazing how the world has to come to a complete stop if the lovely gets lost??
I never had an animal, but my mom had to pry my tattered blanky out of my 5 year old hands to get rid of it. In fact, she kept cutting it in half until it was the size of a washcloth ann then it was just gone. My son is a blanky boy too which cracks me up. I wonder if these things are genetic!
That's cute!! Jake actually does not have a specific lovey. It's strange. When I was little, my Gloworm was my lovey.
What a cute little Heffy. I love how he eats on his own at times.
This is too cute! I Love the pics and how active he is. I wonder what my little man's "lovey" will be.
awwww heffy has a wonderful life and is very loved
Ah, yes. The things we do for our kids. My Sweet Pea changes her lovey from week to week. I think she tries to keep me on my toes. It works.
Ya gotta love kids! Love the pictures!
Mrs. Nurse Boy
We have the Lovey thing here as well. Bubbie has a blue blanket named blue. We are creative aren't we? Bitty has many lovey's. Puppies and babies. She has not stuck to just one thing. Heffy looks very cute and very snuggly!
Funny! my oldest had a small Raggedy Ann doll that she wore the hair off of, my middle had a "My First Baby" that she sucked the 3 strands of hair off and my little man has a puppy - affectionately known as "puppy".
yeah we all have had one in one form or other. I have kept mine and my husbands tucked away so the kids don't get them!
Baby Chicklet's lovey is "Picky Nose" and I too am instructed to FIND IT!
Cute post.
My kids love their webkinz.
Too sweet!! So I have to ask...did Heffy get himself into that gym bag?? Thank goodness he can still breathe with his trunk sticking out like that! hehe.
How cute! I had one...he was a racoon, though.
Love it, love it, love it! My Abigail now has TWO lovies which is a little more stressful for me since I have to keep track of both, "blankie" and "doggie." Sorry I haven't been commenting lately you 3 chicks are some bloggin' fools and it's hard to keep up! :)
Very cute! :)
I have a huge collections of stuff toys, too. They are in the Philippines. I would probably start all over again here in US. :)
That is too cute!! I had (still have!) a yellow blanket my great grandmother made me :)
What gorgeous photos - and your son is a real cutie!
None of mine really focused on one thing. I was the lovey! My 19month old is like a crack addict if he can't get to my hair.
LOVE the pictures.
My kids did not attach themselves to stuffed animals or blankets. My son just had to have the pacifier. Sheesh, we are boring!
love that last one! soft toys are such a huge part of their lives, aren't they?
Heffy! OMG! Mine was "Charley" and he was the coolest monkey on the block in D-Town, Texas. You couldn't tell him anything. He took a mad beating though.
How sweet! We have a pink kitty cat at our house that participates in everything right along with us. :)
We have blankie and mousie! But blankie should be called raggie by now!
I don't remember my lovey. But I remember my kid's loveys. A year and a half ago, my youngest one lost her lovey, she called it Babydoll, at Meijer. Of course it never showed up in lost and found. We had to buy another one. We had to get it shipped next day and it was 50 bucks! But the look on her face when Babydoll came back was priceless. Just awesome.
I love the one where his snout is coming out of the pack! :)
My kids never had one particular lovey. They take very good care of their toys though (too good - their rooms are getting full!), esp. their favorite ones. As they've gotten older, my job has become tougher. Not only do I need to know the names and current whereabouts of all the toys, lately, I've been required to tell them where and when (so we can celebrate birthdays) and from who we received each and every toy... and no making stuff up either, they catch me!
I had a little blue bear which I called my "baby sister". I always wanted a baby sister, but I never got one.
One day at the doctors the doctor asked me something and I told him all about my baby sister, only ever referring to it as my baby sister.
The doctor shot mum a quizzical look as he had been the family doctor for years and knew nothing about a little girl, and mum had to explain the whole thing to him.
Heffy is adorable. Love the pictures..especially the one with the trunk hanging out of the backpack!
heffy is awesome. i just had to make another rabbit cause he lost a leg.
Is that a Heffalump? :-)
What a cute post. I was never attached to anything, and neither is my daughter. I'm beginning to worry ;-)
Thanks for entertaining me.
Awwwe that was incredibly cute!
Heffy is cute. I had a stuffed elephant as a kid too. His name was Packy. I love that thing...funny what we remember about childhood, isn't it?
When I was home this weekend, my mom was going through an old memory box, and it had my "lala" and my brother's "roo." Man, I loved that blankie...
my kids kept asking 'what's him name' when seeing your sweet little boy!! :0)
I had Snoopy and my sister had Snoopy's sister Belle. My kids rotate between several, you never know who's hot each week.
Winks & Smiles,
Wifey
So cute!
I love this post. It reminds me of the pink mouse that my father bought me as my first toy that we called Missy Mousy. After all of these years she is still alive and kickin, but she's much smaller then I remember :)
I have a few lovey's too, I actually need to write a post about my most recent lovey....his name is "Poppy" and he is a loveable old plastic bottle I dug up from the neighbors yard. Oh Poppy, how I love thee!
BlogBaby
Heffy is AWESOME! I want a purple elephant to hang with all day. Might make me feel a bit less big and awkward. Damn second trimester.
Oh, and I read your comment about your no-so-green heart. You make me laugh!
Too cute, my son had a blankie, and took that to college with him, but packed in a box...that elephant is too cute! Oh, I had a 'foamy'- the name on my teddy bears label, but he bit the dust in an drive by accident when I first got married. I think hubby intentionally ran him over...jealousy!
he is MUCH cuter than the hef i recently posted. ;)
Super sweet, love the backpack pic :D
Tooo cute! Whoever says they never had a favorite stuffie growing up either has selective memory or they're covering up something ;-)
Aww, that is so cute. We have gone through a couple of Heffys in the form of:
doggy
kitty
blue (a blanket)
rainbow (another blanket)
and now Kit (American Doll).
As you can see, the monetary value increases as our girls age!
How sweet! You have such cute kids. Love Giancarlos smile in the one at the table. I sure do miss those days sometimes, but now I get to watch the grand kids go through the stages! 9 times blessed is the way to look at it! Have a great weekend Francesca
awwww. I want one. But I just have Zac. And zac goes where I GO! And I see nothing wrong with that!
