I'm A Star

I am getting my hair cut and colored this week. Friday to be exact. I booked the appointment last night. In order for me to accomplish this small personal care miracle, many things had to come together, such as a babysitter, an 8:00 AM opening with my stylist, and healthy kids. In short, the planets needed to be in perfect alignment.

It has been quite a while since my last cut. If I were to guesstimate, I'd say its been somewhere in the neighborhood of one year, two months, and a day, or in other words, since before my daughter, Lucia, was born. If you envision Cousin It from the Adams Family, you’ll have a pretty good idea of my current look.

I am feeling excited. Good-bye gray, shapeless hair, hello fun and flirty fabulousness. I’ll undoubtedly end up looking practically identical to any number of celebrities…

Even though I am planning on obtaining hair perfection, I am worried that my new look may go unnoticed. What if I go about my daily routine and people do not stop and openly stare at me wherever I go? I just don’t think I could take that type of rejection.

What to do? What to do? Is there a way for me to ensure that I turn heads and people say, "Wow, there goes one great head of hair?"

Celeb*4*A*Day, a company that allows you to hire your own temporary entourage, including photographers, publicists and bodyguards, may be just what I am looking for. For $750, I could be a MegaStar and hire a group of people to call out questions about me and my hair whenever I go, just like the paparazzi does with Julia, Brad, and Britney!

Friday looks like it is going to be busy for me. I’m thinking it should be a great day to have my entourage in tow...

8:00 – Undergo color and cut that brings me instantaneous fabulousness and superstar status.

11:00 – Hit the grocery store and post office. Maybe with my personal paparazzi, people will be less likely to notice my crying or arguing children or feel compelled to tell me how difficult motherhood can be. I will instead stun them into blessed silence!

12:00 – Pick up Giancarlo from pre-school. Super! Those made-up Mommies who always achieve the perfect tri-fecta of clothing, make-up, and a rested appearance, will embrace my new look and welcome me with open arms into their inner circle.

1:00 – OB appointment. This one could be a little tricky, but why not? The photos in US Weekly are continually capturing stars going about their everyday routine, grocery shopping, pumping gas, walking their dog. Why not add this one to the list? It shouldn't be too weird to have my entourage by my side. (I mean, weird would be something like taking your family with you to your OB appointment.)

All in all, I think it will be money well spent. $750 will even buy me a high-gloss print of me on the cover of Celeb*4*A*Day Magazine and a CD containing 5 high-resolution photographs from my experience.

What more do I need?

You have a full Friday. The getting pampered is the best. What going to the O.B.? I bet you will knock the socks off of your O.B. with your new look. He or she may have to take a double take. Happy Monday.

YAY! Francesca I loved the post, but I LOVED the trifecta. I did a trifecta today in my post as well (hehehe)!

Frighteningly, I am sitting with some fabulous L'oreal haircolor on my head as I type. I have a funny feeling your new 'do is gonna look a tad better than mine :)

Sounds busy! I too, haven't cut my hair for well over a year. Last time I got it cut, they screwed it up so bad and cut it so short, it took about a year to grow back right! Now, admittedly, I am TERRIFIED it will happen again!

i agree...take some before and after pics.

Wowsers, I didn't even know a Mom EVER got the opportunity to go to the stylist. I had thought I was doomed to a 3 inch root existence until the Hub announced yesterday... "You're going to get your hair done."

Hooray for those men.

Have a great day on Friday. Your plans to top off the day are amazing!! Have fun.

Ha! I almost can't believe that is a real thing - are you serious?

Good luck with the haircut - I'm sure your baby will notice. The first time I got mine done after Monsoon, he ran screaming from the room. Nice.

I had my hair colored and cut and my eyebrows waxed on Saturday. It was a beautiful day. Oh how wish I would have hired the Celeb4aday people--but I think I will wait until I have surgery. Then it would be as good as your trip to the OB!!

Nothing better than a new do! Can't wait to see the new you!....

I had my hair professionaly cut for the first time in 9 years a few months ago. I'm cheap and have let my husband trim it during that time.

Can't wait to see the new hair! :)

I will be sure to pick up a copy of the latest "People" magazine to see how your OB appointment went! LOL!

SIgn me up. I'm all over it. THen? Can we eat girl scout cookies after?

Heather said...

Sounds li9ke a great Friday. Except the OB. Blah.

Lori said...

Does the $750 include a male celebrity? I mean, what is a day of paparazzi without being snapped having brunch with Leonardo? Or strolling through the park with Brad? Or jetting into a hotel room with Justin? Just don't forget your extremely large and mysteriously dark sunglasses!

peewee said...

I for real almost choked on my coffee. It was totally unexpected to see trifecta this morning! Let alone a link! I actually clicked the link not even thinking it would go to me!! HAHA!

BUt wow...hair AND OB in one day? Guess that give a new meaning to 'burning the candle at both ends!"

Michelle said...

Hope you had a great weekend. Can't wait to see how the new doo turns out!

I think I might put the whole entourage thing on my birthday wish list this year for my DH....sounds pretty cool actually!

Aquaspce said...

how fun you'll be fabulous I'm sure!!!

RiverPoet said...

HA! I love it! I don't know if I could stand having the paparazzi follow me around all day, but wouldn't it be fun to see the looks on other people's faces, hearing them whisper, "Oh yes, I know who she is...she was on that Lifetime movie, remember?"?

Thanks for visiting my blog today and for moving on to visit Lisa's place.

Peace - D

Oh Wonderous Being.

I love that you are going to the O.B.'s while being celeb 4 a day. Does that mean everyone is invited? Your fan club too? Well, I will be there for sure! I'll be the one hysterically crying while holding a tear soked picture of you in my hand.

You definitely need to do before and after pics! And if the whole $750 thing doesn't work out for you, we will gush over you here. :)

You totally just made me want to call up the salon and book an appt for myself. I not only need some color and a cut...but a pedicure too. That's it- I am soooo pampering myself. Thanks!

Hope you love the new cut and color!

Can't wait to see the pics of the new you but I think the OB pics of your "hoohah" should be shopped out to the highest bidder like Stesha's twins! What a riot!!!

What exactly do you think we are here? We're your paparazzi, your hangers on, your not-so-secret admirers. Are we not enough for you?

Helene said...

I bet you're gonna look gorgeous!!!! I know what you mean about it taking practically a miracle to line up an appt like that...so many things have to fall in place!

BTW, I had to laugh..the day I posted about the comments I get from people about twins, I went to Babies R Us with all 4 kids in tow and some lady looked at me astonished and said "are they all yours?"....I was wishing I had memorized the comment you had posted on my blog for the next time someone asked me that! It's so much better than my usual sarcastic answer!

You have an award waiting for you on my blog.

Ohhhh! I'm excited to see the new hair. Thanks for visiting the blog. I've been a little down and out lately so your comment made me smile. As for the man, he'll be home in May! Not much longer to go.

Wow, how do you find this stuff! That is hilarious! I am sure you look fabulous too! I just got my own hair done and almost fell out of my car when my husband walked up to the window and noticed & complimented!! Whoo-hoo!

I'll bet you'll look GORGEOUS! :) It would appear on my blog frog that MckMama has visited my site...but let me tell you something about that blog frog... It's a prankster. I found out that if anyone happens to click on a link to my blog from her site (it can be anyone Bob, Billy, Mary...but not MckMama)....and her picture is the one that shows up on my Blog Frog... Crazee, right? I'm thinking of taken it off, because nothing against MckMama, but I think she has enough publicity without hogging up my Blog Frog. Hee hee! :-)

OH, and to make an already too long comment, LONGER.. Thanks for the sweet things you said about Hannah's singing. She loves singing so much!!

Amarie said...

Will we get before and after pics? :-)

Thank you, Francesca, for the visit. Will be sure to follow.

Wait a second. You have to hire paps? I thought for sure they followed you around 24/7. Like the rest of us.

Cannot WAIT to see the hair!

OH I wanna see your cut! I love the idea of the entourage thing, with 5 pics, that is just over 150 bucks a pic! Whoo hoo! Totally afforable and fun. Sign me up.

Dawn Parsons Smith said...

Well now! I am new here and can tell already this is my kind of bloggy! I think a personal entourage is absolutely necessary in this cold hard world! Does it include nanny and chef services?

I haven't had my hair cut or colored for almost a year either! Yikes!

Stacy Uncorked said...

I am so ready to have my hair cut and styled - but I'm in the same boat as shimmermeblue...I have yet to find a hairdresser here in Small Town America that can achieve greatness with my big head-o-hair...maybe a trip to San Francisco would be in order - think Celeb*4*A*Day would give a group discount? We could make it a party...and you'd then have plenty of company and supporters for your grocery shopping and OB trips... ;)

Ryan Ashley Scott said...

Okay, the cousin IT pic has been haunting me all day - I'm making an appointment for my hair, too.

Wanted to thank you for all the new bloggy friends Wenda introduced me to. You Bay B Chicks so much fun to read.

Thanks for visiting.....you are a busy lady you will love the pampering while getting a whole new look on Friday. and don't worry about the house...maybe the photographers can clean up while they have some down time....at that price they should do something

Quiskaeya said...

That's what I'm talking about! Hire paparazzi! Work it girl in front of those cameras and do that fabulosity stuff. Hey, if Kimora Lee Simmons can do why can't the regular mom do. lol

I can't wait to see the new looks. :)

WILLOW TREE said...

Always one step ahead of the population Francesca darling. An entourage. Mah-velous!

Can't wait to see pictures. You know, Annie Liebovitz's pictures of you, what with the $150 per picture price tag!

I'd say reschedule that OB appointment, but at least you'll be feeling fabulous. Paper gown? Rock it out. I mean, look what you did with some flip flops!

Blessings, Carolynn

Good luck with the hair cut. You will feel like a NEW WOMAN! :)
And yes......don't forget the before and after pics.

Eve said...

HAHA... Oh my gosh. I can't believe there is such a company as celeb 4 a day! That's fantastic!
I'm sure you don't need to go to such extremes top get the reaction you want for your fresh new look (just do what I do and call everyone you know to tell them that you've just made a change and want them to ooh and aah over you!).

Carebear said...

Hilarious post! Who in the world - besides crazy you! - would pay $750 to pretend they were a celeb for the day? Sending yourself Valentine's Day candy is one thing, but this type of behavior calls for therapy! Enjoy your day of hair pampering. Hope it stops traffic, in a good way!

Melissa said...

Oooh have fun! Can't wait to see how fabulous it turns out!

ONG, I laughed so hard at this, just the mental image of being at Costco with an entourage! I too look forward to haircuts or any pampering sans kids with as much anticipation as I did this new administration.

Enjoy your time and post a pic!

Franceska, Thanks for stoppin' by my blog. I'm glad you enjoyed lookin' around and thank you so much for the kind comments. I so enjoy when someone new stops by, that way I get to check out a new blog too and you ladies have a great blog. I think it is wonderful that youn's have been friends for a long time and put this blog together, a great idea.
I'll definitely be back and I hope you'll mosey on over to my blog again.
Once again, I'm so glad you stopped by and Youn's have the cutest kids! They are dolls.

Francesca,
I'm sorry I spelt your name with a k, hit a wrong key.

I would fear that my hired band of admirers would catch me in a most unflattering pose and auction me off to a parenting magazine as the BEFORE picture in an article about what NOT to do while raising the next generation of adults. Most cruel. :-) Thanks for visiting and reading, BTW. I'm glad you like it! I'm hoping my challenge will get me stirred up and I'll write something amazing one of these days. Oh and thanks for your vote too! You're all sorts of supportive! :-D

I cannot wait for the before and after pix. I am 100% certain that you will turn heads. You have the ability to make people move. For example, I am currently rolling on the floor laughing. ;o)

I can't wait to hear all about your celeb4aday day.

This post totally gets two hands in the air. The roof has officially been raised my friend!

Gibby said...

So jealous about your hair appt! Man, do I need one, BAD. Wouldn't it be great if salons had nurseries so that you don't have to find babysitters just to get a stinking hair cut?!

Melissa said...

I'm hoping you'll post before and after pics... NOT from the O.B. thankyouverymuch! :)
I think the paparazzi idea is a great one! Just plunk down that cash and find your inner diva!

The High Family said...

Ok, it's been almost 5 days and no updated picture of the new you!

How did your salon day go?? Are you in jail for roughing up a photographer? ;)

Sharon said...

That just happened to me...not the OB part. I got my hair cut, saw my family and husband's family, and no one noticed. Sad. The cut was really different too (different for me).
