Just a Little Bit Quirky

An update and insider tip to the Three Bay B Chicks' blog:

To those who are interested in buying the Downtime Sleepy Hat pictured in this post, simply click on the photo. The link will take you directly to the company's website. In fact, to the extent that we can, all of the photos on our site are linked to where the item may be purchased.

Sundays are good for many things, like going out to eat breakfast, watching CBS Sunday Morning (love me some Charles Osgood), and big, Sunday night dinners. What is not to enjoy about a slow paced day before the work week starts?

Sundays are also good days for following up on tags. And so, the Three Bay B Chicks are following up on the last tag that was sent our way over Christmas. It came from Sandy at The Adams Family. Sandy is a lovely mother to five (yes, five) children and is currently experiencing technical difficulties in her life. Go give her some comment love today if you can.

The guidelines:

1. Link to the person that tagged you.
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3. Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself.
4. Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs.
5. Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.

Sandy, thank you very much for thinking of us, but we have to tell you that after giving this matter serious consideration, we have determined that we have no quirks. Yes, the Three Bay B Chicks are quirk-less. Our children, however, are a different matter entirely. At three years old and younger, they have a quirk or two to speak of...most likely inherited from our husbands.

Six Non-Important Things, Habits, Quirks about our Children:

1. Thuy's M has acquired a plethora of flying toys from his Dad, such as monkeys, bats, fireflies, and stunt flyers. M loves them all. Strangely, his mother does not.

2. Kacey has been trying to teach Emi sign language for months, and depending on how you interpret the results, may have achieved success. Emi understands many signs, especially the word for "please." Whatever Kacey signs the word "please", Emi not only throws things at her mother out of frustration, but she has recently also started crying.

3. At one point or another, Giancarlo, Emi, and M have all slept better for their care givers than they have for their own parents.

4. Emi requires complete darkness in order to take a nap. This is most likely due to the sleeper hat (pictured here) that she wore as an infant.

5. Giancarlo refuses to use blankets whenever he sleeps. Instead, he prefers to lay on top of a pillow and then have one or two pillows covering him for warmth.

6. After months of attempting to teach Lucia sign language, Francesca is on the verge of giving up. Rather than using the "all done", "get up", or "no more eating" signs, Lucia prefers to simply arch her back and scream to convey that she wants out of her highchair.

Now we will pass the tag love onto:

1. Mary Moore at Holy Mackerel
2. Laura at The Smith Corner
3. The Sustainable Backyard
4. Anji at I Wasn't Born a Soccer Mom
5. Laura at LAURASCOOP
6. Megan at The Hastings Family

Enjoy your Sunday!

These are great! I can totally relate to #4. Sounds like your kids are communicating very well without sign language!

That sleeper had is so adorable! Where can I get one?

I did sign language with my kids, but also realized that it was an effective way to communicate with my hubs when we were out in public but out of earshot!

Now now now, girls, I find it veeeeery hard to believe you are all quirkless. I bet the hubbies and the children (in a few years) will read this and start making a list of their own!

So, what's up with the sign language difficulties? Kacey, perhaps Emi thinks "please" is something else entirely, maybe she thought you said "fleas" instead, and she is pitching a fit because she doesn't want them. Just a thought.

Great post, Francesca! You rock!

Ah yes. We tried the sign language thing too. It's fun, isn't it? It's fun in a "I'm so frustrated I could scream and hit something" kind of way!

Sherrlyn of http://www.lovesimplyhappens.com says. . .Languages are wonderful for children.
Glad to hear that there are other quirk-less people in this world. My dog believes I am perfect. Thanks for checking out my wedding site. I wish I had been the photographer at your wedding too.

You know I have to defend the baby sign language!!!

I love this list. Don't give up the signs man, dont do it!

You could be one day away from a signing response.

Hang in there with the sign language! It took my daughter awhile to catch on, but once she did life got So much easier. Do you have the Baby Einstein Signing dvd's? My kids LOVED them, and they would sign along with the show better than they would for me if I sat down for teaching time.

Blessings, Carolynn

I want a sleeper hat for myself!

I gave up on sign language, too. My kids just never caught one and preferred to talk, even if that meant they couldn't say words and just screamed instead.

This is great! I want a sleeper hat too:)

Things are going much better today. The snow fall helped us to have some much needed relaxation. Hopefully all my technical problems are behind me!

Thanks for playing along!

How creative of you all. Divert the attention from your own weirdness at the expense of your children. Brilliant.

HAHAHAHA your post and spin on the tag was so entertaining and funny! I loved it. Thanks for the love and I will be doing the tag soon!

You guys gotta let me in on where to get that hat. I want one for my niece!

Thanks for the sweet comments or Taylor's girly party! As to answer your question, tayloe really wasnt to tired at all the next day. She might have taken a little bit longer a nap than usuall, but not grumpy or anything. Of course we didnt let them stay up REAL late either. I think they were all down by like 10:15, which of course is alot later than there bedtimes but it was a sleepover.

Also, I am Tim not Carey. I get that confusion all the time. So no worries:).

The little girl that was the best actress was Katie the one in the pink. Great job!

That sleeper hat is SOOO ADORABLE!!

I think the fact that a group of three women have NO quirks is, in and of itself, a quirk. As for #6, I thought that was universal sign language for "I want out of my highchair." I also love that sleep cap. How adorable.

I'm always fascinated by the idea of the baby sign language, but I've never heard from anyone who was very successful at it.

That picture is fantastic! I think kids get quirker and quirker with each generation, so watch out for the grand kids!
