I'm a Winner

My thoughts have been consumed with the benefits of blogging this week. In addition to the perks that both our wonderful commenters and I came up with, I realized that I left one out...the opportunity to win, win, win. On any day of the week, there are a countless number of blogs hosting give-aways. All joking aside, what is not to love about a free Starbuck's card, blog make-over, Kate Spade bag, or fancy camera?

I am continually entering give-aways, trying different strategies to get my hands on the "big pay-off." However, nothing I do seems to be working. Entering first, last, or crafting witty and creative comments have all led to zilch.

Today, I am taking a different approach. I am hosting a photo caption contest, similar to others I have seen on the web. You may enter my contest, but know that you won't win. In an attempt to bolster my self-confidence, I am declaring myself the winner.

I'll even share my winning captions with you...

Thuy and I took the kids to the Oakland Zoo a few weekends ago. She thought it would be super funny to have her husband snap a photo of my very stylish up-do.

Caption: Yes, I am a Fred Flintstones' long lost daughter, Pebbles, but I must conceal my celebrity-like status with dark sunglasses for fear that I will be recognized.

Caption: Nooo, paparazzi, nooo. Out of my face with your flashing lights.

Caption: Gawd! Why won't this woman just put me down already? I am so over her.

Since I have already declared myself the winner of my contest, I decided not to come up with a caption for this photo. It is simply a lovely shot of Thuy and little M.

This is a picture that I took last night after dinner. Giancarlo took it upon himself to bandage a mysterious cut that neither Geoff nor I could see. As he was showing off his Bandaid, he flipped up his middle finger at me and actually said, "See, Mama, see? I will have to show everybody this finger now."

It feels good to be a winner. Now all I need is for Kacey and Thuy to decide on my prize.

Maybe the bandaid is just excuse to flip the bird? No that would only be something the boys in my family would do!

That's it! I've been wracking my brain for weeks on end trying to think who it was that you reminded me of! Now, thanks to Thuy, I've got it. It was Pebbles!! Thank you! That was driving me completely crazy.

Giancarlo was flippin you the bird for not letting us participate in the contest. Prize hog! This was very clever though. I love your captions. You can stop by my blog for a give away on Friday and I promise you will win.

You're pretty brilliant! I am going to have me a contest like this! The prize will be an extra day in the week to work on Miss D part two. I will call it (the day, not the book) Greatday. I think it could catch on.

Is it wrong that I wanted to caption the last photo, "Yu're Numbah One Raymond, Yu're Numbah One!!!" Dang I miss Everybody Loves Raymond. No kidding, my mother IS Marie. Yeah, explains a lot, eh?

So, I'm a big fan of you winning your own contest. That's right up my alley; I send myself flowers. Oh yeah, I said it.

Got to go, I'm off to win my own contest for a laptop cleaning... because I spit cherry coke on it laughing so hard at your caption that started off "Gawd!!..." But may I just say, the picture was priceless and so was the one of Thuy.

Still a no on y'all relocating to Wisconsin then??

Blessings, Carolynn

You SHOULD be the winner!! The pics are great BTW!!

My kids put band-aids on imaginary cuts/bruises/scratches too. That is why I think I should own stock in Johnson and Johnson!!

Between the cute pictures and the captions, you are definitely the winner. If you want, I can host a fake giveaway on my blog and make sure you're the winner. ;o)

Francesca! I won I won!

I opened up my dashboard to see who updated their blogs while I slept and wouldn't you know it...I saw that I had won some cute flower barrettes from one of the giveaway sites I've been putting entries in (forever!) today!

Maybe my luck is changing? Doubt it but it's pretty exciting to actually win something!

Those kids are way too cute. And, the comments were awesome. I am never that creative!

Nadine said...

Hahaha! I love this post!

I won't even attempt to come up with funnier captions, since you know, YOU won already :)

Really?? That's all I have to do - just declare it and it is so? Then I declare us rich and wealthy and well taken care of. I declare myself pampered.

Hang on, I gotta go clean the throw-up off the living room carpet.

Guess my declaration didn't come true. *sigh*

I wear that exact same up-do. I'm definitely going to start claiming to be Pebbles!
