Talent Discovered

This morning’s topic on Yo Gabba Gabba! was talent. Apparently, everyone has one according to DJ Lance Rock.

It got me thinking…what is my talent? Starting projects and not finishing them, check. Shopping online, check. Eating candy, check. Wrighting, cshek. Don’t judge me.

Around 3:32 PM it hit me. My talent, without a doubt, is procrastinating. I’m SO very talented at putting things off. If procrastinating were a sporting event, I’d get first place every time…or would it be last pace? I have a loooooonnnngg list of things I’m supposed to be “getting done” this summer. Consolidating Emi’s clothes, organizing my school stuff, taking things to goodwill, potty training (not me), and the list goes on and on. So far, I’ve been able to cross the most important item off the list - that being getting the satellite dish fixed. How else am I going to learn how to cook Italian food if I can’t watch Francesca’s favorite, Giada, on the Food Network? How will I know what fashion is current if I don’t have access to The Real Housewives of New Jersey?

If I could get my act together I would most definitely want to be as organized as Tsh Oxenreider, the mastermind behind Simple Mom. To say she is a planner is to say Michael Jackson is peculiar. I stumbled upon her great blog while I was putting off preparing dinner. You really have to check out her organizational tips that are free to download from the resource section on her blog.

Perhaps if I used one of these nifty pages each day they’d keep me in line.

Ooh! I just thought of another one of my talents – idea stealing.

Is it possible to be both a list maker and procrastinator? Do I make the lists just to show myself what I DIDN'T accomplish at the end of the day? Woo Hoo! Give myself a pat on the back for NOT vacuuming the family room for yet the fourth day in a row! LOL! Thanks for sharing the list blog with us -- now my lists will look so much cooler! LOL!

Ok Yo Gabba Gabba kinda scares me a little and makes me wanna throw up in my mouth! LOL!

I think I need a list to follow also. I should be doing things right now but nope I am here on the computer.

Technically, I make myself lists so that I remember my list of to do's...However, my talent is forgetting. Forgetting what I'm supposed to be doing, reason for list. Forgetting I wrote it down, forgetting where I put the list...

I wouldn't procrastinate so much I don't think if I could just remember what it was I was supposed to be getting done/doing...=)

Randi Troxell said...

yea yea.... im a totaly procrastinator too!

Oh no you di'nt Kacey! Did you really just introduce me to a website with checklists galore?

Ok, now I'm in heaven...sometimes I want to have kids just so that I can keep all these nifty schedules and progression charts and such that you mommies are privy to!

You don't know how lucky you are. I guess we both have the "stealing ideas" talent in common.

We share the talent - I am supposed to be Tackling my sock drawer, but here I sit! Thanks for the resource!

But knowing that your talent is idea stealing will save you so much time! =) At least your not trying to turn out the same product over and over like Bravo's housewives series.

You and I have the same talent of starting projects and not finishing them. It's great!

I don't know looking at that list worksheet made stressed out.

mary said...

Isnt procrastination a talent?

Kristin said...

That seems like a major amount of effort. Of course maybe if I put forth that effort my house wouldn't be disaster area right now!

Jennifer P. said...

ok--so I actually met DJ Lance in person last month. He's not so weird :).

My talent would be coming up with great ideas in my head that I never really follow through with...would that be considered procrastinating :) ?

Me too.

I love organizational list sheets and such, but I lose them. Or doodle on them. Or make paper airplanes out of them. I'm horrible.

I want to try though. I really want to try!

I'm also a terrible procratinator. I've tried several times to be more organized, but nothing sticks.

I make lists to enable my own procrastinating. Terrible, right?! And you have now enabled me to make my lists even better! Can I outdo myself in procrastination.....let's find out!

Off to check out Simple Mom...after I read the latest update on RHofNJ....

Blessings!

I honestly admit that I do the same, I am a big list writer and my things to do are always pushed for later, even waking up is a whole procastinating event, I finally get up when I know that I will be seriously late to work!

The weird thing though is that underneath my mess, I'm really quite organized. I call it organized chaos. Yep! That's me!

Too funny! I love that blog too. I tend to procrastinate, and get hyperfocused! So I get so busy doing one thing that I don't do anything else! Guess that's my talent.

Also wanted to tell you that I am having an art contest for kids at my blog- ToddlerCraft
I loved your we heart art contest! So I thought you might like to know about it. I just had my blog redesigned, and I am celebrating with the contest/giveaway.

Love what you write!!

I couldn't get past the picture of DJ Lance because I heart him so intensely. Seriously, I love Yo! Gabba Gabba! ;-)

Counselormama said...

I am a HUGE procrastinator, too! I hate Yo Gabba Gabba, btw, too weird, and I like weird, normally, ha ha. I decided that if I did everything on my list of things to do, then what? It's a nice way to stay motivated in life. :)

Sara @ Domestically Challenged said...

Oh no! That list is scary in non filled out form. However, I will totally download it. Later.

Joanna Jenkins said...

I make lists all the time. Then I can't remember where I put them.

Kelly Deneen said...

Oooo idea stealing and procrastinating are both excellent talents! :)

That form is pretty sweet though.

Mrsbear said...

Procrastinating is an art form I am quite familiar with. If I'd known it could be considered talent, I would've slapped it on my resume years ago. ;) I'll check out those organizational tips...you know, tomorrow. :)

So funny you would mention procrastination...it's been the topic of convo between me and my IRL friends. Seems lots of people procrastinate these days (me included). ☺ On the other hand, I feel more at peace when things are organized...that's my zen. I LOVE the organizational chart you were showing. I'll have to go check out her blog!

Hope you guys (or girls) are having a wonderful week!!
