Green is Good

Wednesday was Earth Day. It is actually one of my favorite days of the year because it brings a bit more consciousness to green living. Don't get me wrong, I still drive, eat meat, and add much to our local landfill. However, I do take little steps here and there to live a fairly green life by reducing my energy use, composting, recycling, and bringing my own reusable bags to the grocery store. Pretty simple, right?

If you'd like to start or renew your commitment to green living, Whole Foods is making it a bit easier. They are giving all of Oprah's viewers a free lunch bag made of recycled plastic bottles from now until Monday. Print the coupon and bring it in to claim your bag. Such a cute bag, too.

You get a bag! You get a bag! And you get a bag! Yes, you at home, too! Gosh, it feels good to be Oprah. :)

That is a really adorable bag, but I have my own collection of funky. I also admit to using some plastic, because certain sales people sort of don't listen and it becomes a drawn out issue. I've almost had bags forced on me, or thrown out when I said I did not want them. Oh, that helps. So when I get a plastic, I reuse it many times & then recycle it.

That's a cute bag! We don't have a Whole Foods, can you beleive it?

I have a few of those bags--they're SUPER cute and durable, too. Love 'em! I have to admit: I'm kinda addicted to the recycling bags now. Which I guess is a good thing. They're making them so cute nowadays that it's great encouragement to go to Whole Foods, Publix and Kroger with the cute bag in the cart.

Plastic bags? Ew.

Thanks!
Can we scream, and cry and laugh in delight like the audience at Oprah's show?

I love Whole Foods! Unfortunately, the nearest one is a good forty minute drive from my house AND it's in the same town, ugh I hate that.

That is a super cute bag! I am sorry to say that I have about 20 bags already and I don't know if I need anymore! It might defeat the purpose of the whole green thing!

Cool! I have so many of those bags and I use them for everything.... except that every time i go to the grocery store I forget them in the car. I'm not so good with that part yet!

I have that same bag in the shopping size. Now I'll have to get it in lunch size. Thanks for posting this!
I TIVO Oprah everyday, but ended up fast forwarding through the Earth Day episode. Good looking out!
Oh and I am so like you when it comes to being green. The biggest change I've made is bringing my own shopping bags to the store.
Hmmmm....feel a blog post coming on.

Hey, I saw an old lady at lunch yesterday with this exact bag. She must like Oprah.

Just thought you might wanna know.

Don't you think "printing" the coupon sort of defeats the whole purpose?

stephanie said...

I have the large version of this bag, also, and love it; the tiny one is darling...But I second the Grand Pooba - I feel eco-unfriendly printing a whole page for this coupon, though I don't know how Oprah could have made such a kind gesture otherwise.

Very nice of you to let everyone know though :D

I don't really do anything for Earth Day, but this year I did decide to start recylcing my Diet Dr. Pepper cans (I go through 2 a day and not giving it up anytime soon) and reaffirm my commitment to avoid the plastic bags at the grocery store. Now I just have to remember my reusable bags!
