Being Fired Isn't the End

As you know, I took a part-time job working as a barista at a local cafe last week. Everything went well for about the first 24 hours. Sadly, after the "honeymoon" period was over, things took a turn for the worse. It was only a matter of time before the inevitable happened...I was fired. To be fair, I was told that I was a part of a corporate downsizing effort. However, given that I was the only employee and did not receive any type of severance package, I am suspicious.

Thankfully, with trusty Google by my side, I learned that the best thing I can do is get right back out into the job market. I am looking at the situation simply as an opportunity for growth and change.

I thank my lucky stars that I was able to find another job as quickly as I did. Today, I'll be testing out my pie making skills. I hear that the work environment at The Pond is really quite good. Plus, I get all the pie I can eat. Why don't you take a little trip and see what I am up to now?

Who knows? I might even be able to make a long-term career commitment to pie.

And by pie, I of course mean pie eating.

Come on by and see what's happening at The Pond.

You have such a great attitude! And yes, why worry!? I am at a crossroads in my life, too, and am trying to decide how much, exactly, my soul is worth.. Wait. That sounded much heavier than I intended.

Maybe I'll take a note from this post and 'dig in'. ;) Life is supposed to be juicy, right?

Happy Sunday, Francesca! Thanks for stopping by de-comp the other day!

How fun! And thanks for your sweet and concerned comment on my blog post--the gal who is winning has 300 followers so they are turning out in droves to vote for her. She also has some really difficult things going on in her life so I really don't mind if she wins. I really only entered b/c the blogger holding the contest had no entries at the time so I did it to help her out. Since I haven't read a book in nearly a year (except mine!) I need an Amazon gift card as much as I need a(nother) hole in my head. But thanks! You are so sweet!

Have mercy, that picture... if pie eating is your thing, please choose apple.

Have a great Sunday, Francesca!!!

Being a barista is so overrated...

Loved The Pond post..They did a nice job. And pie-eating? Go for chocolate cream... much faster than having to chew apples or other chunky things. LOL.

Sven got fired from his job once. It was the best thing that ever happened to us. You can see what kind of opportunities it has opened for you...from coffee to pie. Before you know it, you will be mistress of every sugar-filled indulgence known to man.

And now I'm seriously considering a trip to California. If we do, I will let you know.

Let them eat pie. Sorry about the firing, but I have a feeling it wasn't the best place to work. I imagine you gave it your all, and something, other than YOU, was the problem.~Mary

Eating pie is fun though. I love pie. I sometimes make pie just for fun. My husband is all, "What's the occasion?" and I reply, "You don't need an occasion to eat pie."

Sorry to hear about the job. I was laid off back in October and am STILL trying to find a job. I have even applied at local retailers and fast food, but they tell me I am over-qualified. Can't win for losing! Grrrr.

The pie picture is great!
