Today

Today is January 8th. It is a very big day. A very big day, indeed. You might be thinking, of course today is significant. It is Sean Paul's and Elvis Presley's birthday! Everyone knows that.

But do you know who else is celebrating a birthday today? What if we were to show you a few pictures? Would that help?

Yes, today is our dear friend's, Keri's, birthday from Forever Folding Laundry.

Kacey and I have known Keri since junior high. By my calculation, that makes us friends for somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 years.

Looking back over our two decades of friendship, there are many memories that still make us smile...

During our freshman year in highschool, we were not allowed to ride around in cars with boys. However, since our highschool had an open campus policy and we were very much into junior boys, we took the chance and rebelliously cruised around town. At one point, Kacey wrote Keri a "note" about this experience, Keri's Mom found it, read it, and grounded our poor friend.

Keri and Kacey made up a coded language in highschool. It was basically hieroglyphics. Their thinking was that if a note written in this language was found during class, then the teacher would not be able to read it. Sadly, the language did not last much longer than about two months.

Kacey and Keri both went to prom with seniors during their freshman year and both had very strict, embarassing curfews, not to mention dresses. Oh Kacey, the horror of the tiered, teal dress prom dress!

In highschool, Keri's nickname was Ariel, and, for the life of us, we can't remember why!

As we have gotten older, our reasons for celebrating have changed.

We have celebrated one another's weddings and our children's births.

We have gotten together for silly reasons, such as luau's and pig roasts.

Through our many years of friendship, we have been laughing most of the way. I imagine that we will still be doing the same after another 20 years.

Happy Birthday, Care-Bear. We love you!

LOVED IT! I too had a tribute to my sweet friend, although in my 2+ years I have not acquired as many funny photos of her. (Of course, Peaches knew about Elvis, but not Sean Paul!)
