Space Issues

Last week, I wrote about my first graders having "space issues" in my classroom. Lucky for my students, their problem was solved. At home, however, I have not been so fortunate.

One of the biggest sacrifices to living in San Francisco is space. My husband and I are determined to stay in this great city, even if it means living in less than 1,000 square feet. Once Emi arrived, it became very apparent that we had a baby in our home. Our apartment literally looked like the baby fairy had come and sprinkled baby clutter in every nook and cranny. While we were lucky to be able to borrow and return many items when Emi was a baby, now that she is older, she has more toys and we have less space. Tyler is all about decorative storage, where as I’m more about giving toys away. When you have 4 sets of grandparents, though, it’s hard to give away items without getting caught. To remedy this situation, I found a perfect solution to our space issues, BabyPlays.

BabyPlays works very much like Netflix, but with toys. Simply go to their website, select the toys you want, add them to your wish list, and they will be delivered to your doorstep. Toys may be sorted by category or by age. Most of the toys do not require assembly and come with batteries already installed! You can keep the toys for 30-60 days, depending on your plan, and then send them back in the same prepaid box they came in. If you decide to purchase the toys, BabyPlays will give you a discount. All of the toys are sanitized with an organic cleaner, lead tested, and exceed US safety standards.

If you can, commit to a six month plan, since it is the most cost effective. By doing so, you could have 5 toys wrapped and under the tree for only $27! If any grandparents are reading this, Emi sure would enjoy a six month subscription (or a 4 bedroom home in Pacific Heights) and her parents would really appreciate reclaiming some of their space back.

Shut UP. WOW what a great idea! Netflix for babies. I'm constantly trying to reshuffle my kids' obnoxious mound of toys, I mean, favorite playthings, so that they're new and exciting again. But my house looks like Toys R Us on every floor. Somethings gotta give!

Well. We're about to give a TON away before we move and sign up for This when we get settled, THANK YOU!

That's an awesome idea!

We have a toy lending library here-it is so cool! This giant room with floor to ceiling of TOYS! And it's a library so you borrow them for free!

you can reclaim space from kids ???

My oldest is 28 and the youngest around here is 18 months (granddaughter .. she and mom moved back in on a [hopefully] temporary basis) .. but, since the oldest was born i have been lacking space .. lol ..
Even without the temporary occupants, the youngest at home is 13 .. and he takes lots of space ..

When they all move out, I will sell the house and buy a motorhome .. no permanant address .. no room for anyone except me and the wifey ..

Thanks for the visit to my blog and your kind comments

Kacey, this is the most awesome thing I have ever heard of! Bry and I are thinking it's baby time (if this recession ever clears up)and were just talking about the space issue. We love our apartment, but had no idea where we would put all of the baby stuff. This service is amazing. I will definitely put it in my "one day when i'm a parent" file.
